August 1991 – the European Communities (EC) took a decision to establish diplomatic relations with Lithuania |
May 1992 – the EC signed the Agreement of Economic and Commercial co-operation with Lithuania |
January 1995 – the Free Trade Agreement between the EC and Lithuania entered into force |
June 1995 – Lithuania signed the Association Agreement with the EC |
December 1995 – Lithuania submitted its claim to enter the EU |
February 2000 – Lithuania started EU membership negotiations |
April 2003 – Lithuania signed the EU Accession Treaty |
1st May 2004 – Lithuania entered the EU |
July-December 2013 – Lithuania held the Presidency of the Council of the EU |
